The whale shark is a filter feeder – one of only three known filter-feeding shark species (along with the basking shark and the megamouth shark).

Ningaloo Reef, which stretches 300 kilometres from Carnarvon’s Red Bluff to the Muiron Islands in the north and Exmouth Gulf’s Bundegi Beach in the east, is recognized as one of the world’s last great ocean paradises. The Ningaloo Coast World Heritage Area was designated by UNESCO in 2011. Whale shark tours Exmouth Western Australia.

The area gained its World Heritage Listing because of its marine and terrestrial assets, which include the Ningaloo Marine Park, which preserves the Reef and Coastal Reserves, and land-based treasures such as Cape Range National Park. 300 to 500 whale sharks gather at Ningaloo each year.

Swim with the Whale sharks

Exmouth is a little town located in Western Australia. It takes about two and a half hours from Perth. You don’t need to get into a cage, watch them through a glass bottom glass or strap yourself to a scuba diving tank. You can actually swim aside with just flippers and snorkels.

They are Gentle giants

They are the biggest fish in the world. Not much is known about these giants. They live in tropical warm waters and feed on krill, plankton, and anchovies. Whale sharks are also known to be gentle with the divers.

The Ningaloo Reef

The Ningaloo Reef is Australia’s largest fringing reef and the longest near-shore reef in the world. Exmouth is the northern gateway to the reef and is the ideal location to explore the underwater world of Ningaloo National Park and the Cape Range National Park.
