The Stadium Tour elves are excited to take you on a festive tour behind the scenes of our stunning new, state-of-the-art Stadium this Christmas. You’ll be treated to breathtaking views of the playing surface, the Swan River and Perth city from the Stadium’s highest vantage point.

Pinnacles sunset star gazing tour
Among the things to do in Perth at Christmas, you can take a sunset star gazing tour. It includes the use of the latest Astronomy Equipment to help you get the most out of your stargazing experience. We have a powerful computerised telescope and Astro binoculars for your use so that you can see the planets and our moon in great detail. There is also the option to attach your smartphone to the telescope to take pictures.
Dates and Times
The tour runs all year round, the night sky changes throughout the seasons and although it is a bit colder, autumn, winter and spring are one of the best times of the year to see the Milky Way and Planets in the Southern Hemisphere.
Food & Wine
While you wait for the stars and planets to appear, enjoy a traditional Australian Barbeque Dinner with a glass of Swan Valley wine as you watch the sunset over the Indian Ocean.
Swan Valley
We also visit the Swan Valley to sample wine, chocolate and honey, go sand surfing in Lancelin and do a Wildflower walk at Nilgen Nature Reserve during the wildflower season as part of this tour.
Tour starting point
Your tour starts in the Swan Valley at the Margaret River Chocolate Company and Coward and Black you get to sample multi award winning wine and fresh produce. The next stop is Yahava Koffeeworks where you can sample the different coffee blends. Just in case you haven’t had enough sweet treats, the next stop is the House of Honey where you can sample their wide range of locally made honey.
Additional Places
In addition, you can also enjoy Sand Surfing in Lancelin, visit the Nilgen Lookout, Pinnacles and Nambung National Park.
Bushtucker
Along the way your guide will show you some of the native bushtucker growing in the area including the Quandong Tree (Wild Peach) which was used by the local Aboriginals for food and medicine and the fruit is also a favourite with the resident emu population.
Star Gazing
After dinner, it’s now time to slow down and unwind under the stars of the stunning outback night sky. We have a large computerised telescope and Astro Binoculars which will allow you to get a close up view of the stars and some of the planets. You can even attach your smartphone to the telescope to take some stunning photos of the nightsky.
Laser Pointer
Using a laser pointer your tour guide will point out items of interest in the sky and you can hear stories of the Aboriginal Dream Time relating to the night sky. Look out for the Milky Way and see if you can spot the giant scorpion, the kangaroo or the emu in the sky. You may also see planets such as Saturn and Jupiter depending on the time of year and if you are lucky, you may get to make a wish upon a shooting star.
Tour Commentary
Your tour guide has an extensive knowledge of the local wildlife and vegetation as well as some of the history of the areas you will see. He can show you some of the plants traditionally used by the local Aborigines for food and medicine as well as tell you about some of the many shipwrecks off the Turquoise Coast from the early European Explorers.
