Where To Get A Late Lunch In Sydney

Follow us on Google News

The struggle of finding somewhere to eat past traditional lunchtime is something BBM knows all too well. To help anyone else that bends the rules all too often, we’ve found the best restaurants, pubs and cafes for late lunch in Sydney.

King St Brewhouse
The mains might be limited to lunch and dinner, but the snacks, share plates, salads and stacks at King St Brewhouse (pictured) are available from 11.30am ’til late, and are good reason enough to head inside and settle for a late afternoon lunch. The Ploughman’s Board is stuffed to the edges with bresaola, Spanish jamon, salami, cheddar cheese, seeded mustard and much more at $25, while the Sydney Rock Oysters can be enjoyed in one of three ways for half a dozen at $16 or 12 at $32. Take your choice of brew out to the beer garden and watch the sun go down as day turns to evening while you eat your late lunch in Sydney.

The Sailors Club
Not only providing diners with round-the-clock hunger salvation from the lounge bar, The Sailors Club is also in a stunning location at Rose Bay Pier on Sydney Harbour. The lounge is kitted out with light furnishings, soft leather and plenty of flora to compliment the views, and from 12pm – late Wednesday – Friday and 11.30pm – late Saturday and Sunday, you can sample the menu. The hamburger with beetroot relish, salad and fries is $24, but the duck liver parfait is particularly scrumptious at $14. The menu changes weekly, so make sure you order what you want at the time. Accompany the food with a cocktail or two (depending on your budget), and this is the perfect late lunch restaurant to wind down after a day on the Sydney Harbour.

El Loco
Every city could do with a Mexican eatery like El Loco, where the tacos are incredible mouthfuls of deliciousness at just $5 each. From pork, beef, prawn and chicken, as well as vegan for you non-meat eaters, everything is complimented by ingredients and seasonings, and even the tortilla can be substituted for a lettuce leaf. The value-for-money runs through the rest of the menu, like the Excelsior Hot Dog for $9 and steak and radish salad for $15. Enjoy everything noon til late Monday – Thursday, til 3am Friday and Saturday, and til 10pm on Sunday. With tongue-tingling tequilas added to the mix and extremely unpretentious surroundings, you might find yourself staying til closing at one of the best restaurants for late lunch.

Bishop Sessa
For full-on dining after the lunchtime rush, Bishop Sessa opens its doors to everyone from midday to late every day except Sunday so you can enjoy a late lunch. Whether you sit at the bar, devour a three-course meal or try a six-course degustation, you can enjoy it in a contemporary and casual urban environment. While the menu changes depending on seasonal ingredients and sustainable produce, the $18 scallop ceviche is Bishop Sessa’s signature dish that has stood the test of time, and should be tasted to understand why. For mains, you can expect whole cuts of beef, venison and pork, some of which has been butchered right in house for ultimate freshness. This is one of the most exquisite restaurants where they serve late lunch in Sydney.

If you’ve had a long morning, the grill delivers fish, chicken, steak and salmon to choose from, while favourites like beef burger ($20), chicken schnitzel ($23) and chicken parmigiana ($25) are sure to tempt your tastebuds. Whatever you fancy, it’s sure to be here, available for a late lunch. You can relax after you’ve filled your belly, in the lounge or main bar, to head into the evening with drinks and friends.
