Why Turf Bar Really Is Melbourne’s Premier Sports Bar
Whether watching it on the big screens or playing it in the bar, sport takes centre stage at Turf. Even the food, drink and layout revolve around catching the latest AFL match, NRL game and EPL score. Their dedication to showing live and replays of sport is why it really is a great Melbourne sports bar.
The Screens
Pushing hard to show live sport whenever possible, Turf certainly has the equipment to do so. Three big screens, multiple plasmas, private screening booths and surround sound ensure that you never miss a moment even when it’s your round. As one of the closest bars to the Etihad Stadium, Turf is an extremely popular establishment for those heading to and from a live game, for pre or post-match drinks and entertainment.

The Games
Not content with showing local sport, Turf screens international rugby and football including the English Premier League, Rugby League Four Nations, Superbowl and World Cup. With Fox and ESPN, they play as many live games as they can fit into legal opening hours, and then show replays of the most popular matches. As screenings can be unpredictable, they do advise to confirm times with the venue.

Pool Tables
There are two pool tables located in a corner of the bar that beckon competition. Well lit, they create just as much of a tense atmosphere as the matches on the TV screens, especially during the Killer Pool Competition on Wednesdays.

Food And Drink
The fare at Turf Bar is to compliment the art of watching sports, with pizzas, burgers and steaks. Weekly specials such as $15 Porterhouse on Mondays and $20 Wagyu Burger with a pot of Pure Blonde on Thursdays make choosing your dish easy, and weekend patrons (Friday night – Sunday night) are treated to a dozen wings for $15 with five finger-licking flavours. As with any pub menu and sports venue, beer is in abundance, with local and international draught and bottles including Victoria Bitter, Fat Yak, Little Creatures and Guinness.

Events And Entertainment
To appeal to everyone, it’s not all sport at Turf Bar; you can also enjoy the famous It’s Bedlam night every Wednesday. Combining $6 pints, a DJ, prizes and the popular Killer Pool Competition, it’s one of the biggest mid-week parties to be had in the city. Kicking off the weekend is Matilda’s Happiest Hour every Friday 6-8pm. Say goodbye to another week with $5 pints, wines and spirits, and of course, the live sports on offer. When the clock strikes 9pm, the party starts with 2-for-1 cocktails until 11pm and a live DJ playing your favourite tunes.
See the week out right, get your fill of local and international competitive sports or indulge in a juicy burger with a game of pool. Whatever your reason, Turf Bar offers just about everything for everyone.
