Greyhound Coaches

Greyhound provides comfortable, hassle-free, and affordable coach services to people of all ages and to all corners of Australia. Greyhound Australia is over 100 years old and is one of the oldest coach companies in the world. Travelling 365 days a year down under there is not much we don’t know about the country.

Every coach in our fleet is fitted with large, panoramic windows and oversized seats so you can sit-back, relax and let us drive while you enjoy the view. All of our buses have onboard bathroom facilities, entertainment as well as onboard safety tracking systems so we know exactly where every bus is at every point in time. Travelling by coach is now also the greener way to go – with the option of offsetting your carbon emissions; it’s a great way to travel without leaving your carbon footprint behind!

Travelling Australia by coach

Travelling Australia by coach has many benefits when compared to flying, driving or even travelling by train:

  • Cost – The overall cost can be much cheaper, even more so when you consider you can package tours, accommodation and your coach travel into one neat flexible pass – called the Greyhound Kilometre Pass which will be discussed in more detail further on in the guide.
  • Environmentally Friendly – Greyhound is one of the most environmentally efficient travel operators in Australia. Studies have shown that per passenger per kilometre, coaches use almost 8 times less CO2 emissions than jet aircraft, and for every full coach, there are 16 fewer cars on the road. Not only is it a greener way to travel in comparison to other means, but Greyhound has also introduced the ‘Green Dollar’ whereby passengers can offset their carbon emissions simply by purchasing a green dollar when booking your travel.
  • Companionship – Ever become life long friends with someone you met on a plane? Not the most likely of scenarios, however, when it comes to travelling by coach, this is an everyday occurrence. If you decide to go the journey alone, the Greyhound bus is a great way to meet other travellers to share stories with, experience things with and you never know you may even find the love of your life!
  • Flexibility & Experience – The greatest benefits you’ll get by travelling by coach is the flexibility it can offer and the ability to really experience life in Australia the way it was meant to be. When travelling by coach you may go to places that you never thought even existed and meet people who you would never otherwise met.

Greyhound Adventures

Greyhound Adventures are available for purchase directly or simply use your kilometres from your Kilometre Pass to exchange for one of the 250+ exciting adventures. Testimonial

I just wanted to take the time to pass on a compliment regarding the driver on your service GX240, which I took on Saturday night from Byron to Brisbane. He was unfailingly courteous and patient with the overseas backpackers who had misplaced their tickets or put them at the bottom of their backpacks, and thereby delayed our departure from Byron. The driver managed to make up most of the time with smooth, efficient, artful driving and I was able to connect with my train home at Roma St., no problems. The ride was the smoothest I’ve encountered in many years of travelling by bus and train and other means of public transport.

You really ought to pay drivers of his calibre a premium wage. Please pass on my thanks and compliments.

Yours faithfully,

Tom Koch
