Working With One Employer in Australia–six Months
The main purpose of your visit must be an extended vacation if you hold a Working Holiday (subclass 417) or a Work and Holiday Visa (Subclass 462). During your 12-month visa stay in Sydney, you can do any type of work; however, the terms of the visa limit you to work with a maximum of six months with any one employer except where you are allowed to work longer by the Department of Home Affairs.
One-Employer – Meaning
You can work for a company for six months if you are referred to by an agency or labour supplier. You can be referred to another company by the same labour supplier or agency for another six months. You can’t stay with an employer for more than six months at the same position using various employment agencies, affiliates or subscribers.
Casual, part-time, full-time, shift and voluntary work are subject to the six – month working limitation. Training on the basis of workplaces is considered a job. You can train with the same employer on a basis for up to six months.
Calculating 6 months
The six months begins on the day you start working. It comprises full, part-time, casual, shift and volunteer work. This is based on what time you’ve spent, not how many hours or days you’ve been working since you started working. Condition resets and starts again for six months: a second working holiday visa or a bridging visa is granted.
This means you can return to an employer that you worked for on your first visa. The six-month work limitation and the rules regarding permission to work longer than 6 months with one employer also apply to your second visa.
