Located in the heart of Sydney’s most historic precinct, The Rocks, Australia’s longest running Irish pub, The Mercantile Hotel will kick off St Patrick’s Day celebrations with their famous St Patrick’s Day Breakfast on Friday 17 March, 2017.

Commencing at 7am, The Mercantile Hotel Breakfast will be the first significant St Patrick’s Day event anywhere in the world due to Australia’s time zone. The day itself will be a colourful ode to Irish culture, featuring an energetic Irish music line-up from 9am, including the likes of Blackwater, Shaylee Wilde & The Soniks, as well as traditional Irish dance performances and, of course, flowing Guinness. Tickets to The Mercantile’s St Patrick’s Day Breakfast are $60 per person and can be purchased by emailing[email protected].

The Rocks will be a sea of shamrock green, with various activities and specials on offer at a variety of venues. The Fortune of War is getting in the spirit with live music, Guinness on tap and giveaways, while The Push will have live music from the likes of Steve Crocker and John Milligan Piano Man, as well as two special $15 Irish cocktails: The Tipperary (Jameson’s, sweet vermouth, green chartreuse) and A Grasshopper Named Aoife (white crème de cacao, baileys, crème de menthe, mint).

For those with a sweet tooth, Sticky have made some cure shamrock candies as their sweet of the week. At $4 a bag these treats will make the perfect gift for the leprechaun in your life. The flavour? Baileys Irish Cream of course!

There’re so many more lively places to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in The Rocks; swing by Jacksons On George, The Glenmore Hotel, The Rawson, Wild Ginger or The Australian Heritage Hotel.

Leading up to St Patrick’s Day, The Mercantile Hotel has a week of Irish fun planned to celebrate the Emerald Isle. Check onlinefor the full program but a week of live music, film screenings of Irish classics, family fun and festive dance is planned.
