What’s on in Sydney New South Wales – Apparat Live
The Subsonic Music Festival announces an exclusive Sydney sideshow for the live incarnation of one of the world’s most impressive Producer-DJs, Apparat. Releasing his fourth album ‘The Devil’s Walk’ in September on Mute/EMI, Apparat aka Sascha Ring stunned critics with a mix of richly textured emotional electronica and heavy sci-fi soul, which Sydneysiders can experience live for the very first time this December.
The Berliner, who is co-owner of seminal electronic label Shitkatapult Records, has been a restless force in the electronic music scene over the last five years and channels everyone from Steve Reich to Radiohead and Sigur Ross, all with a firm understanding of what works on a dancefloor as well. He’s done sessions for John Peel and released a volume in the DJ Kicks series, two examples of the kind of respect he commands.
To some, Sasha will be better known as a member of Moderat, the electro supergroup consisting of him and his maverick pals Modeselektor. Their long-held Berlin bromance produced an acclaimed album in 2009. Thom Yorke adored that record and invited Moderat to support Radiohead. Others might recall, back in 2006, the dizzy synths of Orchestra of Bubbles, Sasha’s tuneful collaboration with fellow Berlin producer Ellen Allien.
Bringing what promises to be a sonically engaging and mesmerizing live performance, Apparat lives in four-piece band mode will astonish fans of all of the producer’s work, whilst gathering a throng of new followers at the same time. Do not miss out on the show people will be talking about long into 2012.
