What’s on in Sydney New South Wales – Paper Plane Project After years of making music from their bedroom studios in Perth, Mason Kimber and Nick Bennett decided to move to Brooklyn, NY. There they bought an assortment of vintage keyboards, pianos, samplers and old records and began working on new material, managing to write and record live drums, bass, guitar and full horn sections in their small studio apartment in Brooklyn. Alongside local NY funk and soul, samba accounted for a stop in Rio De Janeiro on their way home where they also recorded live drums and percussion.
Paper Plane Project’s sound is all about that old-school Sunday afternoon party in the park, bringing soulful beats and vibes back into the realm of hip-hop and beyond. Their new material blurs the line between Brazilian samba funk, 70?s disco boogie, 90?s golden era hip hop and contemporary beats. Whatever the label, they aim to give the listener a feel-good vibe that is best listened to while cruising the neighborhood on a warm summer’s day.
