What’s on in Sydney New South Wales – Subsonic Music Festival

Subsonic Music Festival returns for another weekend of exceptional electronic, roots and soulful music. Apparant, Tiki Taane (Shapeshifter) and Chali 2na (Jurrasic 5) headline.

Only a few more sleeps until Subsonic 2011! It’s been a long road leading up to this weekend and we’re absolutely thrilled that at last, it’s upon us. In the final approach to the festival, there are some points we need to touch on to make sure everybody’s prepared and ready to go.

Please remember that there is no glass permitted at the festival including in camping grounds. If you’re bringing your own drinks, please either buy cans or bring a safe alternative container you can fill up. BYO is not permitted in entertainment areas as the festival is licensed. This is very important, so we would really appreciate everybody’s cooperation on this!

Perhaps a pretty obvious one, but no ticket means no entry. Presale tickets are no longer available – you will be able to buy a ticket at the gate for $170.00 if you missed out. As this is an 18+ event you’ll need your ID on you – please don’t forget this as you may not be let in without it! No pets are allowed and nor are generators or independent sound systems. Have trouble getting to the festival? We have shuttles running to/ from Newcastle train station and airport. Although we may have seats available, pre-booking is the only way to guarantee your seat on the bus!

If you’re driving to and from the festival we ask you to please drive safely and take your time. We want everybody there and back in one piece! For those of you heading up from Sydney, we recommend following these directions as a GPS may take you the wrong way:

Take the Sydney to Newcastle Expressway north and follow it right to its end. At the roundabout turn right and follow the “Pacific Highway 1” signs to Hexham and then left over the Hunter River bridge (Note: there is no need to go through “Newcastle” to get to Riverwood Downs).

Head North on the Pacific Highway. “CAUTION” – When you come to the Raymond Terrace roundabout IGNORE the sign that says Dungog Barrington Tops. Drive straight through the roundabout and continue along the Pacific Highway.

You will bypass Raymond Terrace, following the “Taree” signs.

On the Pacific Highway 20 km north of the Raymond Terrace Roundabout, turn left onto the “Bucketts Way” to Stroud (Gloucester & Barrington Tops). The turn off to “Riverwood Downs” is a left turn, 17 km beyond Stroud. Do watch for the turn-off, as it comes up rather quickly. Then just follow the signs 8km into Riverwood Downs.
