MONDAY 5th SEPT: JAZZ
We’ve tuned the piano, doubled the bass, brushed the drums and practiced our sax-a-ma-phoning for Jazz this Monday night at The World Bar. Our house band is hot, and you can actually jump up and play with them if you’ve got the chops. Email [email protected] if you wanna do that. If not, it’s free – so come down for a pizza and finger-snap to some live jazz around an open fireplace. From 7:00 pm to 10:30 pm, DJs afterwards.
TUESDAY 6th SEPT: POP PANIC PARTY TIMEZ
Ignore this paragraph if the most shameless party in Sydney isn’t something you’d mark in your calendar. But if you try to tell us karaoke, 90’s pop hits, and power ballads aren’t among your favourite things ever, you’re a liar anyway. So go back to your house of lies. Pop Panic is a guilty pleasure and Sydney’s biggest backpacker night, and it hits the World Bar like an anvil of the party every Tuesday from 8 pm, with DJs Pablo Calamari and Andy and Mike delivering pure enjoyment to the throbbing masses. Contact [email protected] for tales of debauchery.
WEDNESDAY 7th SEPT: THE WALL ART AND DUBSTEP
This week the two-headed beast that is long-running arts club night The Wall offers one thing: the best FREE Wednesday night in Sydney. Upstairs and early, we’re kicking out those Winter blues with a Springtime Markets at The Wall – clothes, design, art, books – you name it (probably only name those four things to be sure…). Come boogie down to tunes supplied by heart-stealer Camden, nibble on some goodies and have a glass of free bubbly. Special guests the Design Kids will be bringing their wares, so there’s a-gonna be the gooood shit. Once you’ve had a few complimentary glasses of bubbly, you can head downstairs for the other side of the canvas; DUBSTEP and HIP-POP courtesy of GLOVECATS, RUBIO and ROBUST melting organs with bass in the clubroom, and DECKHEAD, PIPEMIX and PABLO CALAMARI will keeping the main bar bopping. [email protected] and [email protected] are just gushing to tell you all about it.
THURSDAY 8th SEPT: PROPAGANDA
The Sydney arm of the UK’s biggest indie night; 20000 students and indie kids attend Propaganda events worldwide each week. DJs URBY and CHAPPERS will play for you the biggest hugest indie hits your lucky ears will ever aurally swallow, peppered with party tunes from all eras and genres, while Dan Bombings and the Teen Spirit DJs play nothin’ but 90’s in the upstairs Tea Room. It’s FREE for students, $5 for everyone else, it’s every Thursday and it’s fookin’ massive. Have a $6 Coopers thanks to, well, Coopers.
[email protected] can tell you more.
FRIDAY 9TH SEPT: MUM
What’s on in Sydney New South Wales – World Bar September Gig Guide MUM is bands, DJs and a whole lot of other mothers every Friday at The World Bar. Some great bands are joined by a bunch of other great bands coincidentally; NORTHEAST PARTY HOUSE, BLOODS, SURPRISE WASP, I KNOW LEOPARD, BUD PETAL, DUMBSAINT, and ALPS. MUM DJs as always will play rock/party/dance/everything till dawn if you let’em, and to get in you gotta pay $10 from 8 pm, $15 after 10 pm, or $10 for students all night. We’d really like to add your party energy to MUM’s mighty pleasure nexus and shoot it into the weekend like a laser forged in Valhalla. [email protected] and [email protected] will be firing the laser.
SATURDAY 10th SEPT: WHAM
There’s no hotter place in the universe than clubbing oasis Wham, Saturday nights at The World Bar. On reflection, it could be argued that the surface of the sun is hotter. But then again, with CHRIS ARNOTT (VACATION RECORDS) heading up proceedings this week, even THAT seems unlikely. Add a who’s who of the best dance DJs in town into the mix; James Taylor, Ben Morris, Mitch Crosher, Brenden Fing, Moneyshot, Reno, Discopunx, Andy Webb, Mike Who, Piepmix, Bermuda P and Shamozzle and I’m sweating already. At least, I hope that’s sweat… It’s $15 before 10 pm and $20 After, from 8 pm til most likely 6 am then everyone back to Jay Tays place! Contact [email protected] if this excites you.
SUNDAY 11th SEPT: DEEPEND
Let me set the scene: James Taylor and Alley Oop providing quality deep house tunes by and open fire, couches, rugs and our new Apothecary cocktail bar/drinkery… there is actually no better way to spend the dying hours of an eve – and trust me, I googled it. Sundays at The World Bar it’s free, with DJs from 9 pm. Email [email protected] for more info.
