From tumbling waterfalls, to soaring cliffs and plunging gorges the Northern Territory is Australia’s adventure capital, so here’s just a handful of places to tick off your Top End bucket list.

Top End Tours - Litchfield National Park

Litchfield National Park, NT

Sitting, practically on Darwin’s doorstep (just 130 km away) Litchfield National Park is the first taste of the Northern Territory’s wilderness. Covering 1,500 km2 the park features monsoon forests and cascading waterfalls. The cool waterholes bustle with fish and turtles and you may even spot the odd water monitor lizard basking on the rocks. Notable when you arrive at Litchfield are the soaring termite mounts that will instantly dwarf you, offering a great photo opp.

Top End Tours, Kakadu National Park
Kakadu National Park

Kakadu National Park, Northern Territory

Covering an area approximately the same size as Slovenia, Kakadu National Park is one of the most famous National Parks in the whole country. Kakadu is where you’ll find some of Australia’s famous wildlife including kangaroos, brolgas and some pretty ferocious crocs! Whether you’re cruising the wetlands, or viewing some ancient Aboriginal rock art at Ubirr, you’ll want to make sure you have plenty of time to get your fill of its incredible terrain. Waterfalls are in abundance in the Northern Territory’s lush bushland. Making for the perfect place to cool off for a relaxing swim whilst hiking through the humid forests. The Twin and Jim Jim Falls are a must see whilst visiting Kakadu.

Katherine Gorge, Northern Territory on a Top End Tour

Katherine Gorge, NT

Made up of 13 gorges, Katherine Gorge is a spectacular collection of river, rapids, waterfalls and towering sandstone cliffs. Local legend has it that the Rainbow Serpent, Bolung, dwells in the depths of the green waters of the Gorge – making it a very spiritual place. The river runs from Arnhem Land to the Timor Sea and is where you can try your hand at kayaking, swimming or looking out for freshwater crocodiles and turtles.
