Working Holiday Nursing Jobs for British Nurses in Darwin Working Holiday Nursing Jobs from Bower Healthcare

There are plenty of positions available for newly qualified British nurses in Darwin. Demand is currently high for midwives and nurses. Both of these occupations currently feature on the country’s Critical Skills List, which is good news for anyone interested in relocating Down Under, as it means it will be easier to get a visa.

Of course, moving to the other side of the world is a life-changing decision and one that will require plenty of thought. Beyond the career opportunities on offer, individuals will need to consider their family and friends – especially if they have children or a partner who will be moving with them.

However, unlike some faraway countries, Australia offers a certain degree of familiarity, which is crucial in the healthcare profession – after all, being able to fully converse with patients is of paramount importance for any nurse or midwife.

Visa options for Nurse Jobs in Australia

There are several different visa options available to British nurses and midwives interested in Darwin, Australia, depending primarily on how long you wish to stay in the country. According to Australia’s Department of Immigration and Citizenship, these can broadly be broken down into three categories: permanent, temporary and working holidays. Each has its specific requirements.

Working Holiday Nursing Jobs for British Nurses in Darwin Permanent Visas

There are two ways of securing a permanent working visa in Darwin, Australia – either through sponsorship by an employer or via the country’s General Skilled Migration programme. Through the Employer Nomination Scheme, overseas nurses under 50 years of age with qualifications and work experience as a registered nurse may be eligible for a visa. If you want to live and work in Australia but do not have an employer sponsoring you, it is worth applying through the Skilled Migration programme.

Nurses must pass a points test and meet certain basic requirements to pass, but their applications will likely be prioritized because of the fact that the occupation is on the Critical Skills list.

Temporary Visas

The Temporary Business visa will allow registered nurses to work in the country for up to four years if they have an approved business sponsor. Accompanying family members will also be eligible to work and study in Australia through the scheme. Alternatively, if you do not have the qualifications, there are bridging programmes available that provide you with a temporary visa while you improve your skills.

Working holidays

It is also possible to visit Australia for a working holiday. This visa will allow you to stay in the country for up to one year and work as a nurse with any employer for up to six months within that period.
