The Climate of Townsville

The Townsville area has a tropical savannah climate with about 8.5 hours of sunshine per day and about 320 days of sunshine annually. On average, the temperatures are high ranging from low 20° C to low 30° C. The warmest month is January while the coolest month is July.  On average, the temperatures are always high. Winter months (June, July, and August) are dominated by warm days with blue skies and cool nights with temperatures ranging from 13° C to 25° C.

Reef HQ is the largest living coral reef aquarium in the world with 130 coral species and 120 fish species along with hundreds of other marine animals. The underwater viewing tunnel in the aquarium providing magical views of living corals as well as predators lurking in the depths of water will attract and mystify any bystander.

Paluma Range National Park

Consisting of 2 parts namely the Mt Spec and the northern Jourama section, the park offers a variety of waterholes crystal clear cool water, unspoiled inland beaches, adventurous hiking, and mountain-biking trails. The park serves as the southern gateway to the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area.

S.S. Yongala

More suited for adventurous souls with a passion to explore, diving at Australia’s largest and most intact historic shipwreck will be a transcendent feeling which will transform the diver into another world.
