From Nature is a showcase of organic sculpture which will take place at Gasworks Arts Park across nine days in November 2017. From emerging to established artists, amateurs to professionals, community groups and individuals, the Gasworks Park will be transformed into a piece of living art. Works will emerge from tree trunks, branches and walls, erupting from the ground using organic materials such as leaves, branches, moss, fruit, kelp, flowers, bamboo, cane, timber and stone.
From Nature also presents a rare creative opportunity for artists. As one of the only events of its kind, From Nature provides opportunities for artists currently working within the fields of sculpture, ceramics, landscape architecture, floral design, and transitory installation to gain exposure to a mass audience and increase community engagement with their work. From Nature also offers a rare glimpse into the artist’s process, as artists will be onsite to discuss their artworks and creative process with community members.
This project has been supported by the City of Port Phillip through the Cultural Development Fund and by the Gasworks Patrons and Friends Foundation through the generous donation of the People’s Choice Award.
