Complete a Certificate III in Carpentry or a Certificate III in Carpentry and Joinery CPC32011 in a TAFE institution. If you are planning to work on a construction site in Sydney, you will be required to do construction induction training and get a white card through a registered training organization. You will also need to apply for a Certificate of Completion. Requirements to Work in Sydney
You need to be trade qualified or have a least 3 years’ experience in the trade, experience in residential building, carpentry, shop fit outs, joinery, construction and other areas of the trade. It will also help if you do have some of your own tools and transport, or be willing to get them. A full driver’s license will always be helpful in the trade industry. In Australia driving is pretty much essential and you will find it very hard to get by without a car or license. If you are working in the trade industry you will also require a White Card.
