Six Things To Do In Melbourne July
There’s a justification as to why Melbourne stays the most lovable city in the world year after year –to put it simply as the cool capital for many and Australia’s hippest city. There’s something for everyone at any time of the year. Excellent coffee, street art, live music, rooftop venues, festivities, stores, shopping, real worldwide cuisine, food carts–you call it–Melbourne has it all!
1. Go Ski-ing
If you consider a little snow activity, Melbourne is the best place to be. If you enjoy skiing or snowboarding, Mt Buller and Mt Baw Baw are both about a 2-3 hour drive away and worth a trip. If you want to just play in the snow, then head to Lake Mountain, which is somewhat closer, but you can’t ski there.
2. Visit the Winter Night Market
Queen Victoria Market is direct across the road from Nomads Melbourne and is a tourist attraction at the best of times. The night market is packed with live music, food carts, global food outlets, and other performers… Along with all of the usual souvenirs, clothes and jewellery shops, you’ll meet on any other day of the week.
3. Watch a film at the Melbourne International Film Festival
The annual Melbourne film festival is backed by local individuals and is hosted in multiple locations throughout the city. You will discover anything and everything from all styles, races and cultures.

4. Slide down a Giant Ice Slide
Eureka Skydeck is a really inexpensive way to get Melbourne’s 360-degree view and the city’s history. Be prepared for the shortest elevator journey in the southern hemisphere to reach the observation deck. The free audio tour is a great way to get to know Melbourne’s history and architecture.
5. See Melbourne lit up at the Gertrude Street Projection Festival
Expect to see road buildings play context to a variety of epic light, music, and art projections along with loads of conferences, events, and theatrical shows. Things are going to get weird!
6. Watch Fireworks at the Docklands
Every Friday night, from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm, right on the edge of Melbourne’s city centre, there is a free fireworks display, food trucks, performers and live music in the Docklands.
