What’s on in Melbourne – A Retrospect of Tim Burton
A Retrospect of Tim Burton at ACMI Melbourne
BEFORE Page 3 ‘stunna’ Jordan, there was the story about another mad scientist’s half-wit creation – Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein.
Of course, Frankenstein’s monster actually had a brain whereas Jordan merely has acute nasal receptors capable of sniffing out money and tawdry gossip headlines.
Anyway, Shelley’s creation inspired filmmaker Tim Burton’s 1984 live-action short, Frankenweenie, as well as the 1990 feature film Edward Scissorhands, starring Johnny Depp.
As the ACMI offers a retrospect of the film career of Tim Burton (pictured right), see his short movie in which a ten-year-old draws inspiration from Shelley’s classic story by re-animating his dearly departed dog, Sparky.
When: Thursday 15 July 2010
Where: Australian Centre for the Moving Image, Federation Square
Cost: $14
