What’s on in Melbourne Victoria – Fitz and the Tantrums

Fitz and the Tantrums is predominantly a soul band but they waver into Soul and Indie on occasions. They are known for putting their own style onto the familiar base of the old Motown classics.

They formed in Los Angeles in 2008 and released their debut album Pickin’ Up The Pieces in August last year. Since touring with Flogging Molly, Maroon 5 and doing their own solo tours, they have become well known in the United States but are now touring internationally so we can all have a slice of the action.

The thing that makes them different from the all the other bands is their deliberate decision to have no guitars. Lead Vocalist Michael Fitzpatrick stated “I just feel like in any music that has a band, the guitar is always there, it’s always featured, it’s always prevalent. I’m just sick of hearing it.”
