What’s on in Melbourne Victoria – ‘Live at Federation Square’
Melbourne’s indie rock outfit Autumn Gray and classical ensemble Orchestre Nouveau have joined forces to bring to Australia an exciting new recording project ‘Live At Federation Square’ to be released 18th November.
‘Live at Federation Square’ is a unique live collaboration between an up-and-coming independent folk-rock outfit and a classically trained orchestra of young, enthusiastic players. This 8-track live recording sees a harmonious marriage of the DIY aesthetic of Melbourne’s indie rock scene with the training, discipline and emotive power of classical music.
Autumn Gray is a mini-army of seven, making music that is dense and richly layered, with warm vocal harmonies, heartfelt lyrics and a distinctly Melbourne sound – think early Augie March, Art Of Fighting and The Decemberists. Earlier this year the band released the highly successful ‘Love Handles’ EP and have shared stages with heroes of the Melbourne music scene including Institut Polaire (triple j Unearthed winner), Snakadaktal (2011 triple j Unearthed High winner), Hello Satellites, Grizzly Jim Lawrie, The Bon Scotts and Adrian Stoyle (The Gin Club). Autumn Gray, together with Orchestre Nouveau ¬- a classical 44-piece chamber orchestra, performed a huge musical crossover concert last October in Melbourne’s iconic Federation Square to a full audience.
The project sees major players within two very different genres combine talents to deliver a one-of-a-kind music experience for a broad audience of music lovers, uniting fans to celebrate the diversity of the universal language known as music. Don’t miss out on ‘Live At Federation Square’!
