What’s on in Melbourne Victoria – Skipping Girl Vinegar
Up and coming indie darlings Skipping Girl Vinegar announce they will launch a monkey into space next month.
The dream to take the ‘Hobo Monkey into Space’ comes as SGV prepares to launch their new single and one of the year’s summer anthems ‘Chase the Sun’. The events will be captured on film for the band’s next film clip and will be released as part of their ‘Chase the Sun’ east-coast tour across Oct – Nov. Watch this space…pardon the pun…
Having recently launched their critically-acclaimed sophomore album ‘Keep Calm, Carry the Monkey’, the next single and forthcoming ‘Chase the Sun’ tour heralds the start of summer – a song about winding the windows low, cranking your favorite track and running as far and as fast as you can from the city’s dust into the arms of your favorite coastal town. The track unravels the euphoria that comes as you chase the sun and see the ocean come into sight, the afterglow across the rock pools and the night swimming that ensues.
In case you missed their packed show at the Melbourne Arts Centre in June, Skipping Girl Vinegar is heading out on the road throughout October / November, taking over the Northcote Social Club on Friday 14 October before the Vanguard in Sydney on 21 October.
After that they head to Queensland, playing the Gold Coast as well as the iconic Joe’s Waterhole in Eumundi and Beetle Bar in Brisbane (3 – 5 November). The tour rounds out in Tasmania with shows in Launceston and Hobart on November 11 & 12.
Chase the Sun features a melodic hook reminiscent of a pack of demented Muppets that will rattle around your head for days. Meantime watch the skies. The Hobo Monkey is coming.
