ALL SHALL PERISH (USA)
With people like Kirk Hammett (Metallica) and Rob Flynn (Machine Head) citing the band as favourites, you know you’re onto a good thing. And for Oakland, California’s All Shall Perish that is precisely the case. After a tonne of DIY touring (with everyone from Bleeding Through to Dying Foetus, from Suicide Silence to Terror) and signing an international deal with Nuclear Blast, the band have hit their peak with album number four, ‘This Is Where It Ends’. More than ever, All Shall Perish have their trademark technical riffs and crushing rhythms, with raw energy and groove, marking this album as their best yet.

Ticket: $30.00 ($3.00 bf)
Guests: Resist The Thought + Trainwreck + Internal Nightmare + Boris The Blade

C.W. STONEKING – SOLD OUT!

C.W. Stoneking is an award winning musician/recording artist drawing influence from pre-war blues, jazz, 1920s calypso, folklore, and personal experience to create his original songs. Stoneking’s songs range in style from lonesome field holler blues, to hokum blues duets, to full blown jungle epics. C.W. Stoneking’s album ‘King Hokum’ recorded in 2005, contained 11 original songs and highlighted C.W.’s skill as a composer as well as showcasing his tremendous vocal and instrumental style. His latest album, ‘Jungle Blues’, was inspired in part by Stoneking’s amazing experience as a survivor of a shipwreck off Africa’s West Coast.

THIS SHOW HAS SOLD OUT – A SECOND SHOW AT THE NORTHCOTE SOCIAL CLUB HAS BEEN ANNOUNCED. Mistletone, 3RRR, The Thousands and Inpress proudly present for the first time in Australia, Kurt Vile & The Violators. GANG GANG DANCE (USA) – SELLING FAST! MEREDITH FESTIVAL SIDESHOW
The arc and trajectory on which Gang Gang Dance has propelled themselves since their inception can only be described in terms of evolution. Gang Gang Dance’s latest record ‘Eye Contact’ once again captures the experimental spirit that typified their landmark avant-pop release ‘Saint Dymphna’. Recorded with long-term collaborator Chris Coady (Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Zola Jesus), ‘Eye Contact’ displays equally a meticulous song craft and love of improv. A band as indebted to dance culture as it is to the local New York art community with which they have close ties. Already announced to perform at this year’s Meredith Music Festival, Gang Gang Dance will also play this show.

MUDHONEY (USA) – SOLD OUT! MEREDITH FESTIVAL SIDESHOW
In addition to their already announced performance at Meredith Music Festival, lovers of garage rock will rejoice at the news that the legendary Mudhoney will be playing this Melbourne sideshow. It’s no question that Mudhoney were the band that made the ‘90s grunge rock movement possible. With their classic 1988 EP ‘Superfuzz Bigmuff’, they paved the way for the movement that would make Seattle the new capital of the rock’n’roll universe, taking the mixture of heavy metal muscle, punk attitude, and garage rock primitivism that would become known as “grunge”.

Ticket: $48.00 ($3.00 bf)
Guests: Precious Jules + The Paul Kidney Experience

OFF! (USA) – MEREDITH FESTIVAL SIDESHOW
Friday 9 December 2011 8:30pm
The individual roots established by Keith Morris (Black Flag/Circle Jerks), Dimitri Coats (Burning Brides), Steven McDonald (Redd Kross), and Mario Rubalcaba (Earthless/Hot Snakes/Rocket From the Crypt) are uniquely woven throughout the rock music canon. Each has challenged society’s cyclical and complacent ideals in their own respective bands, and three decades on they’ve never strayed from their intentions. Now they come together as a four-piece called OFF! and they’re as confrontational as ever, lunging inside the aesthetic of West Coast hardcore to push life’s most provocative issues to the forefront. Check out the video for ‘Darkness’.

THY ART IS MURDER, DREAM ON DREAMER, WAR FROM A HARLOTS MOUTH (Germany), THE BRIDE and MAKE THEM SUFFER (Under 18s only – matinee show)
“Brutal” is the key word to describe the Soldiers of Immortality tour. Not only does it describe the punishing schedule of nine shows in eleven days, but it also describes the carnage that They Art Is Murder, War From A Harlots Mouth (Germany), The Bride and Make Them Suffer will wreak at this show. Since the release of their debut EP ‘Infinite Death’ in 2008, Thy Art Is Murder have demanded attention around the globe. Known for brutal breakdowns, punishing blast beats and gore riddled lyrics, the five-piece have sold out several headlining tours while apologising for no one. DIG (Directions In Groove) ‘The Clearlight Tour’

Dig (Directions in Groove) is a multi award winning band from Sydney Australia, who emerged from Sydney’s happening club scene in the early ‘90s. The audience grew exponentially week by week, leading to a self-financed recording that became the largest selling Australian EP until that time, and contained the hit song ‘Re-invent Yourself’. Touring followed and Dig attracted large crowds, soon signed to Polygram (Universal) and released the album ‘Deeper’ on ID in Australia and Verve Forecast internationally. The album debuted at number six nationally and soon earned gold status.

THE DEAD SALESMEN

More than 20 years since they first took to the stage, The Dead Salesmen are returning for one night to where they thought they had played their last show. It was at the Corner this iconic Ballarat band farewelled their friends at the beginning of the 21st Century. A chance recent encounter reignited the flame, prompting occasional special performances, including a memorable set at Meredith in its 20th year (they also played the festival in its inaugural year). Beginning as a duo in the late eighties, they grew to a four piece, developing a difficult-to-pigeonhole sound. They’ve toured the country, supporting acts as diverse as The Screaming Jets and Bob Geldof, and shared stages with The Whitlams and Augie March. Now they return to the Corner so don’t miss this chance before the light goes out again.

Ticket: $20.00 ($3.00 bf)
Guests: The Turnarounds + Juan Alban

DAN AND AL (Annual Reunion Show)

Dan and Al are a couple of withered shards of yesteryear. They play only once a year lest they kill each other, though chances are one of them will weep onstage at some point. Dan will become boisterous, magnanimous and mildly violent. Al will become embarrassed and frozen with fear. Are you a ludicrous freak show trapped in an inexplicable vortex of tragic nostalgia and ennui? Tickets are strictly limited, though each year ensures this risk diminishes.

Ticket: $12.00 ($3.00 bf)
Guests: TBA

THE TOOT TOOT TOOTS with CASH SAVAGE & THE LAST DRINKS – Xmas Eve Show

The Toot Toot Toots’ live shows feature their foot stompin’, horn honkin’, go-go dancing, psychedelic freak-out style of rock ‘n’ roll, and see a haphazard spectacle of a stage show filled with sweat, glitter and trumpets. Complimenting The Toot Toot Toots with their country blues stylings over the last few months have been Cash Savage & The Last Drinks, and this show will be no exception. With a combined total of up to 20 performers, this will not be a gig for the light hearted.

Ticket: $17.00 ($3.00 bf)
Guests: TBA

Having taught himself to play in the isolation of rural Australia, he has developed a blues/funk style all his own that can be delicate one moment and explosive the next. Chris Wilson, meanwhile, is an accomplished blues harmonica player, guitarist and vocalist. He’s shared stages with Bob Dylan, provided backing vocals on the Merril Bainbridge song ‘Under The Water’ and has toured extensively, playing at many festivals, both in Australia and overseas.
Ticket: $22.00 ($3.00 bf)
