Wednesday 1 February 2012 7:30pm

ANNA CALVI (UK) – On sale Wednesday 23 November – LANEWAY FESTIVAL SIDESHOW
Friday 3 February 2012 8:30pm

See Anna Calvi up close and personal. She’s on fire at the moment; listen to her eponymous debut or watch any video of her performing and you’ll see why. The half-Italian, half-British artist’s deliciously dramatic vocals and darkly cinematic instrumentation have won countless plaudits (including a prestigious Mercury Prize nomination) and the praise of Brian Eno who calls her “the best thing since Patti Smith”, which is not a compliment you’d throw out of bed.

Ticket: $50.00 ($3.00 bf)
Guests: TBA

GIRLS (USA) – LANEWAY FESTIVAL SIDESHOW
Wednesday 8 February 2012 8:00pm

After the recent success of their latest album ‘Father, Son, Holy Ghost’, San Francisco’s GIRLS are back to tour Australia. The album received a glowing 9.3 review on Pitchfork and plenty more unconditional love for this stand out pop gem. ‘Father, Son, Holy Ghost’ exhibits a new sound built on the ideas and ears of a much more confident band. GIRLS are at times ebullient and at others absolutely devastating. A truly beautiful and immensely diverse band, sliding from sweet punchy pop tunes into soothing psychedelia, now is the time to catch this all-inspiring group and be mesmerised by the sun soaked psychedelic pop that is GIRLS.

Ticket: $45.00 ($3.00 bf)
Guests: TBA

Having been announced for Laneway, get ready for a double dose of fun when GIVERS and Portugal. The Man bring their bright breed of psych-pop to Australia early next year for a series of co-headline shows! GIVERS’ ‘In Light’ is a vibrant debut album, perfect for the warm summer months ahead and bursting with invigorating melodies, shifting rhythms and an abundance of energy as many will know from their revitalising first single ‘Up Up Up’ and new single ‘Meantime’. Alaskan quartet Portugal. The Man released their much anticipated sixth album ‘In The Mountain In The Cloud in July 2011. Filled with pulsing riffs and rings true to the buoyant rock and roll style that has permeated each album since their 2006 debut, ‘Got It All (This Can’t Be Living Now)’ is the infectiously catchy first single that has been on high radio rotation since its release.
