Mars Volta is a grammy award-winning American band from Texas. They are best known for their progressive rock and energetic live performances that send crowds into frenzies! Maybe it’s the music that evokes such frenzies, or maybe it’s they’re really big hair, who knows.

They were founded in 2001 by frontman and guitarist, Omar Rodriguez and vocalist Cedric Bixler-Zavala and have released five studio albums since then.

Progressive rock lost its mojo for a while and it’s only bands like this that have brought it back and made it more acceptable for the younger generation. You have to understand that prog-rock isn’t just cringe-worthy dad music anymore, trust me!

The Mars Volta are doing just three shows on their Australian tour, Melbourne, Adelaide, and Sydney. Their Melbourne gig will be supported by local surfable blues band The Fearless Vampire Killers.
