Live it up with Darwin’s relaxed vibes, tropical weather and seemingly never ending art and culture events, sporting festivals and buzzing outdoor markets. The Dry Season (May –October) signals the start of world class festivals and events.
Darwin Event Highlights
Arafura Games
The Northern Territory Government has announced that the 2019 Arafura Games a biennial event will be held over eight days from 27th April to 4th May. The Games will host a range of sporting competition tiers from amateur through to sub-elite. Fifteen sports have been included while further discussions with Dragon Boating and Sepak Takraw are ongoing to include them as exhibition sports.
Battle of the School Bands
It will be held at 6 pm on 3rd May at the Browns Mart.
Mother’s Day Craft Fair
It will be held from 9 am – 3 pm on 5th May at the Darwin Waterfront.
Darwin Italian Festival
It will be held from 2 pm to 10 pm on 11th May at the Civic Park. This year’s event will include food, entertainment and competitions while entry is free.
Freds Pass Show
The 40th Anniversary Show will be held on 18-19th May at Stuart Highway.
Bass in the Grass
The above Music Festival will be held on 19th May at Mindil Beach.
Indonesian Festival
It will be held from 5.30 to 9.30 pm on 19th May at the Goyder Square, Palmerston.
Garrmalang Festival
It is a celebration of Indigenous culture and will be held from 23rd to 26th May.
Territory Taste Festival
The biggest Territory inspired foodie event will be re launched as an outdoor event at the Darwin Cruise Ship Terminal and will be held on 25th and 26th May. Ticket sales have begun.
Harmony Soiree
It will be held from 4 pm – 8.30 pm on 25th May at the Darwin Waterfront.
