Climate of Cairns

With about 300 days of sunshine per year on average, Sunshine Coast consists of a sub-tropical climate with hot, humid summers and a cooler winter with a mild temperature. In the Summer (December – February), the average temperature ranges from about 24° C to 32° C. Being the wet season, a lot of rainfall falls in this time period. Both the autumn (March – May) and spring (September – November) are cooler than summer with an average temperature ranging from about 22° C to 29° C. Winter (June – August) is considerably cooler with an average temperature varying between 18° C and 26° C.

Great Barrier Reef
