Jabiru Bar

Located in the Novotel Darwin Hotel, Jabiru Bar is a tropical cocktail bar set among palm trees, flowers and flowing water. It is a good alternative from the Mitchell Street pubs for a quiet and more sophisticated evening drink, especially during the daily happy hour from 5:30pm-6: 30 pm.

Six Tanks

Proof that there’s some real quality along Mitchell St among the generic backpacker spots, this brewpub serves up its craft beers from 26 different taps; six are reserved for the beers brewed on-site and supplied straight from the tanks, while others are devoted to guest craft beers from elsewhere in Australia or around the world.

One Mile Brewing Company

A good place to start your Darwin night out, this brewery’s tasting bar showcases some of the Top End’s tastiest beers. The 4:21, a beer cheekily named after the time Darwin’s civil servants famously finish work, but the Pink Lady Cider, too, has its devotees. Ask about a brewery tour if you’re a beer aficionado.

The Lost Arc is the classy chill-out bar opening on to Mitchell St, which starts to thaw after about 10 pm.

Discovery Darwin

Modern, multilevel nightclub with neon decor, for the latest DJ and music, acts, plus a karaoke room. A great place to party till morning. Despite Darwin’s reputation for being an incredibly laid-back city, the aforementioned area can get a bit rough in the small hours.

Opium Nightclub

The Evolution of Darwin Nightlife Northern Australia’s only true underground experience. The club is a  party central and has a buzzing atmosphere on Friday nights when the city workers spill out in their droves.
