Mulga’s Adventures 3-Day Rock Trip
Taking in some of the natural highlights of the Northern Territory, you can see what makes this region so special in just three days with Mulga’s Adventures. The 3-Day Rock Trip includes one of the most famous icons in the world, as well as lesser-known but just as stunning formations.
The tour begins and ends in Alice Springs. On day one, Kings Canyon is your destination, situated in Wattarka National Park. 270m of towering sandstone over thick vegetation for over 600 plants and animals, many of which endemic to the region, make Kings Canyon a breath-taking sight. Formed over millions of years, it takes about three-four hours to walk to the top of the canyon, with six kilometres of rugged landscape, the Garden of Eden, and panoramic views at the top. You’ll spend the day exploring its many corners and crevasses, before heading onto a cattle station, which will play home for the night. End the day with a BBQ, campfire and sleeping under stars in a swag – this is the outback after all!
On your second day, you’ll visit Kata Tjuta. Also known as The Olgas, Kata Tjuta consists of 36 rock formations shaped like domes, and are considered sacred by the Anangu people that own them. The sight of Kata Tjuta is marvellous, with the tallest dome, Mount Olga, stretching 546m high. It’s then onto Uluru, the most famous rock in the world. Standing at 348m tall and a round-base of 10.6km, it is historically and culturally significant to the aboriginals, so much so that visitors are no longer permitted to climb it. You will, however, get to enjoy its changing colours during sunset with a glass of bubbles on the evening of day two, and sunrise with a cooked breakfast as you begin day three. Full of energy, you’ll then have the chance to embark on the mammoth walk around it.
Before heading back to Alice Springs and finishing your trip, you’ll get to visit a camel farm and even
ride on the back of this outback resident – a once-in-a-lifetime experience and completely free on the 3-Day Rock Trip with Mulga’s Adventures.
This spectacular taster of the outback is just $370pp and includes an experienced guide, park entry and camping fees, pick-up and drop-off, bus travel, some meals, swags and a free camel ride.
