Amazing Rainbow Beach Learn to Surf with Bare Travels this Summer
Named for its mineral-rich, many-hued sand, Rainbow Beach is a pretty good surfing point. How about learning to surf at Rainbow Beach this summer with Bare Travels?
Rainbow Beach is the perfect spot for beginners to learn the art of surfing. You can catch a wave and ride it for several hundred meters. The waves seemingly go on forever. There are not many people about and you’ll be able to surf far away from the madding crowd. Better still, there are no rocks. You’ll be learning to surf in waist deep water.
Get There in a 4WD
Rainbow beach is accessible only by 4WD. We’ll take you on a thrilling ride across sandy stretches to Double Island Point. The point break there is sandy and long, ideal for first lessons in surfing.
We provide you with both soft and hard boards in various sizes. Our instructors can fit you with the right surfboard to begin your lessons. Beginners surf boards should be stable and you should be able to float on your board with ease. Generally, a large surfboard will give you ample space on which to learn. You can bring your own wetsuit if you like.
Your First Lesson
We’ve designed our surf lessons to provide you with the complete gamut of techniques and understanding to learn to surf fearlessly. You’ll learn about surf insights, how to handle your board and the art of wave riding. Don’t worry if you’ve never surfed before. We’ll first teach you the right techniques.
Depending on your level, we will teach you how to handle the board, pop up techniques, paddling and catching waves. You may even be standing up, catching waves and riding those in no time.
Use a surf leash – this is actually a safety requirement. You’ll take a while to get used to the leash and it will get in your way. But a leash can save your life.
Practice on dry land – We always make our beginners go through the moves on dry land after a light workout. You’ll first learn all the basics on the safety of dry land.
