As the world’s largest inner city park, it’s no surprise that Perth’s Kings Park and Botanic Garden always comes first in a list of the city’s must-visit tourist attractions. There’s always something to do in the open space, and we’ve come up with a list of things you can do to make the most of your visit to the park.
Strolling Through the Federation Walk
The 620 metres-long walkway is one of Kings Park’s top attractions, and its elevated position guarantees you the best views of the whole park and nearly the whole city. It takes a bit of energy to complete the walk, but the breathtaking views that you get as you come along is sure worth the efforts!
Guided Tours around the Garden
To get the complete Kings Park experience, sign yourself up for one of the free guided tours of the park. Guided tours at Kings Park include the Kings Park – Past and Present Tour, Botanic Garden Walk, and the Kings Park Mystery Walk. Each tour lasts approximately 90 minutes and gives you interesting information about various areas around the park.
Picnic and Barbecue at the Synergy Parkland
Synergy Parkland is one of Kings Park’s best spots to have a picnic or barbecue. Adding to the cosiness is a lake in the centre surrounding the Lycopod Island. If you don’t bring your own picnic, there’s Zamia Cafe nearby where you have a cup of coffee and snacks while overlooking the park’s stunning view.
Heaps of Entertainment at the Park
Kings Park also regularly hosts a number of events, from live music concerts to outdoor cinemas. Well-known acts to headline concerts at Kings Park this year include Angus & Julia Stone (February 4) and Billy Idol (March 20). Another great entertainment is the Moonlight Cinema, held regularly until March this year and showing popular films from the past and present such as The Shawshank Redemption and Into the Woods.
