As usual, The Toff fails to disappoint and has a jam-packed line-up for November. Acts include The Miserable Little Bastards, Joe Pug, Cut of Your Hands, shows from the Melbourne Music Festival, Matt Corby and many, many more.

Monday 7 November – RMIT presents, OUT_SET – Electronic Sound Art

RMIT Fine Arts Sound graduates come together with a dwindling grip on sonic reality beautifully showcasing the misuse of technology and broken symphonies.

Tuesday 8, 22 & 29 November – THE MISERABLE LITTLE BASTARDS with ‘WHILE THE MOUNTAIN WAITS’

The Miserable Little Bastards are an old-school throwback for the modern-day fallout, performing depression-era show-tunes for the new global recession. Conceived in 2008 as a side project for drunken-pirate-convict-rock maniacs Clinkerfield, The Miserable Little Bastards have evolved into a mystery bag of some of Melbourne’s finest musicians.

Wednesday 9 November – JOE PUG (USA) with special guest CHAD MASON

Last November saw the first-ever visit by Chicago-born Artist, JOE PUG. He was introduced to audiences in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne, and wowed them all. So much so, he has been asked back to play both Port Fairy Folk Festival and Mossvale Music Festivals in Victoria, as well as headline shows in Melbourne and Sydney, and for the first time, he will hit Adelaide and Perth.

Thursday 10 November – CUT OFF YOUR HANDS (NZ) with special guests ALBERT SALT and MILDLIFE

The New Zealand four-piece visited our shores earlier this year, with a run of sold-out club shows in June, coinciding with the release of the first single “You Should Do Better” & recently returned with a main stage spot at Splendour in the Grass as well as sideshows with UK outfit Friendly Fires.

MIDNIGHT EXPRESS with PREQUEL & EDD FISHER – EVERY THURSDAY from 11 pm!
DJs Prequel & Edd Fisher (Tomorrowland) provide a thought-provoking aural accompaniment to your inner-city late-night rendezvous at The Toff In Town Carriage.

Saturday 12 November – KITCHEN KNIFE WIFE ‘Easy To See’ single launch with guest DJ’s TAKA (Little Red), BRENT (Dandy Warhols) and BOB (Immigrant Union)

Kitchen Knife Wife will be celebrating the release of their second single “Easy To See” with a party show at the Toff on the 12th of November w/ support from Brisbane indie-pop band My Fiction and DJs Taka from Little Red, Brent from Dandy Warhols and Bob from Immigrant union. “Easy to See” will be available on iTunes and other digital outlets from the 21st of October.

Sunday 13 November – “THE SUNDAY SET” with DJs ANDY BLACK and HAGGIS.
This week’s theme – FANTASY

“The Sunday Set” features YOU plus musical meanderings, trainspotter tracks and unlikely samples for your pleasure. In addition: food, drinks, good-looking people, gravy and occasional nonsense. Each week we’ll provide you with a musical ‘set’ – and we’d love your ‘variations on a theme.

Sunday 13 November – Polyester Records presents, OTHER PLACES Album Launch with special guests CLUE TO KALO & MATTHEW BROWN (Zond)

Other Places is the solo project for Melbourne drummer/producer Mathew Watson.
Having had a prolific 18 months which included working with Boredoms on their sold-out 10.10 concert in Melbourne and playing & recording with critically acclaimed new band Magic Silver White (Love&Mercy), drummer turned synthesist Mathew Watson has found time to complete a solo record under the moniker, Other Places being launched at The Toff on Sunday 13th November.

Tuesday 15 November – THIS TOWN NEEDS GUNS with Special Guests

Hailing from Oxford in the UK, an exciting and original math rock band THIS TOWN NEEDS GUNS is heading to Australia for the upcoming ‘Harvest’ music and arts festivals taking place in November.

Wednesday 16 November – GEORGIA FAIR ‘All Through Winter’ Album Tour with special guests

These album launch shows consolidate the years of touring alongside artists such as Washington, Lisa Mitchell and most recently The Panics while spotlighting the strength of the songwriting and Jordan Wilson and Ben Riley’s organic, low-key harmonies and sophisticated, acoustic folk-pop.

Thursday 17 November – The Australasian World Music Expo presents, EAGLE & THE WORM with TEVITA (New Caledonia) and EMILY ULMAN

Hailing from Melbourne, but spreading their gospel far and wide, Eagle and the Worm made 2010 their own. The release of their debut single Futureman, the follow-up single All I Know, and a constant touring schedule have seen the band gain a national identity and an ever-growing legion of fans.

The Australasian World Music Expo presents a night of unflinching indie-pop, electric folk and heartfelt acoustic roots.

Sunday 20 November – “THE SUNDAY SET” with DJs ANDY BLACK and HAGGIS.

Sunday 20 November – AWME presents, VIKA & LINDA with RICHARD MOGU (PNG) and IWANTJA

The Australasian World Music Expo and Wantok present global sounds from the Central Desert to the Pacific seas.

Sunday 20 November – AWME presents, BARONS OF TANG, DJ CLICK (France), MIKEANGELO AND THE TIN STAR feat. ST CLAIRE and JAKE AND THE COWBOYS

The Australasian World Music Expo presents a night of gypsy tango, slamming surf / western and swaggering roots.

Wednesday 23 November – Melbourne Music Week presents, FOOTY with special guests DUCK DUCK CHOP, ROLLER ONE and MILK TEDDY JAMS

FOOTY return to the stage at The Toff in Town on November 23rd as part of Melbourne Music Week

Thursday 24 November – Melbourne Music Week presents, PLAY LIKE A GIRL rocks Melbourne Music Week featuring DIANA WOLFE and FIONA WILDE

Co-founders of the monthly Play Like A Girl jam session / open mic sessions, Fiona Wilde and Diana Wolfe, will present a one-off event as part of MMW. Open to women, men, girls and boys of all ages and stages of their musical journey, the MMW Play Like A Girl event will cover what it takes to survive and thrive as women in the Australian music industry.

Thursday 24 November – Melbourne Music Week present, VERY SPECIAL HEADLINER (TBA) with special guests CITY CALM DOWN and I OH YOU DJ’s

In the name of MMW, notorious party juveniles I OH YOU will be making their long-awaited return to the city of Melbourne and bringing an epic free party as part of Melbourne Music Week. A special guest – soon to be announced – will add their impressive live show with support from one of Melbourne’s highly regarded indie dance bands City Calm Down.

Saturday 26 November – CHET FAKER with special guests RAT & CO and JESSE I

Coming from Melbourne’s deep disco scene and taking elements of his acoustic past, Chet Faker has created a unique sound that fuses personal stories of love and loss with an electronica soul. Chet Faker will play his first live performance at the Toff, Sat Nov 26 with a full band. He is supported by Rat & Co, and Jesse I.

Sunday 27 November – DANIELLE SPENCER & STEVE BALBI ‘Alone Together’ Tour

Danielle Spencer & Steve Balbi have joined forces for a series of co-headline shows and are excited to announce the Alone & Together Tour. The shows will be an intimate night of music showcasing each artist’s original work with the pair performing alone and together.

Wednesday 30 November – MATT CORBY ‘Into The Flame’ EP Launch with special guests LOVE MIGRATE

Matt Corby has spent the last month bunkered down in the studio recording his new EP ‘Into The Flame’ which is scheduled for release next month. The four-track EP was recorded at studio 301 with Tim Carr at the helm (Ernest Ellis, Jonathon Boulet).
