The Brecknock is Adelaide’s original Irish pub. It is the hub of south-central Adelaide’s CBD, only a short walk from Victoria Square. Proudly South Australia’s number one Guinness selling outlet. Serving Imperial pints how they’re meant to be poured and for only $6! Our draught taps also host Kilkenny, Bulmer’s Cider alongside Australia’s finest.
The Brecknock is stylishly unpretentious with a refreshing old-school feel. The new beer garden compliments the traditional layout, with chunky Jarrah pillars recycled from dockyards in Port Adelaide. Dappled sunlight and comfy lounges make it is easy to sit on the deck, while away the hours, play pool, or a game of pinball. On the weekends see local bands perform. Sports fans also can catch international games on our many flat screens.
With a strong focus on music, the Brecknock offers a range of live music throughout the week. Raw Jam sessions on Wednesdays, the raucous sing-along jams of Thursdays Rainbow Sessions and live bands on weekends – often Irish rockers or traditional folk appear. Jukebox specials and even Tuesday’s Trivia night is only about Music – with a cash jackpot of up to $500.
The Brecknock’s seasonal menu is created by Head Chef Anna Kittel, an Irish-inspired ala carte that is totally approachable for the quality. Many items hover around the $10 mark plus a lunch menu of pub fare that’s even more affordable.
St Patrick’s Day at the Brecknock is legendary! Even if it falls on a weekday the adjacent street gets closed, live bands play while thousands of revelers amass with good cheer. Three stages pump with Irish, roots and rock music, Adelaide’s Irish pipe band parades through the early evening and Irish dancers step it up throughout the day.
