Swimming cove

One of Perth’s safest beaches, Hillarys’ shallow, sheltered cove is right in the heart of the Harbour with calm water perfect for younger swimmers.

Swimming pontoon & waterslides

Older kids will have heaps of fun swimming out to the pontoon, climbing up to leap into the water and racing each other on the waterslides.

Beach playground

Picnic areas

Hillarys’ green lawns are the perfect spot to lay down a blanket and look out over the water while enjoying a picnic from home or a takeaway from one of the nearby restaurants. Picnic shelters and tables are located at the northern end.


Hillarys’ main jetty is the best place in Perth for bombies, with generations of WA kids enjoying this summer rite of passage. You can also fish off some of the jetties around the Harbour for species like herring and bream.

Short-term mooring points

Three free berth points are available at Hillarys Boardwalk bridge for you to tie up your boat for a couple of hours while visiting the Harbour.

Located at the northern end of the Harbor beyond Hillary’s Yacht Club, this accessible fishing platform is designed for people with limited mobility.
