Perth Australia

Perth, on Australia’s west coast, is a city where nature and urban life coexist. Locals here enjoy more sunny days than in any other Australian capital city. In Perth, where soft-sand beaches and picturesque parks meet a lively metropolis of small pubs, unique eateries, and curated street art, you may have the best of all worlds.

Day Trips From Perth

Discover Perth in a single day. Perth is bordered by an abundance of interesting sights, making it an ideal destination for day visits. To help you prepare for an unforgettable experience, we’ve included some of our favourite places to visit near Perth that make terrific day trips.

Serpentine National Park

This national park is located just one hour south of Perth making it an ideal day trip destination among visitors as well as residents. Loaded with several excellent hiking trails and swimming spots the Serpentine National Park is highly favored among nature lovers of all types.

The Pinnacles

Among all the day trips from Perth, nothing beats the Pinnacles’ unique factor. This unusual destination is in a nut shell picture perfect. Adorned with strange golden out-crops this destination is without a doubt, one of a kind. Since it is part of the Namburg National Park there is quite a bit you can see here within a couple of hours.

Unlike your conventional nature escapes this destination has more of an urban touch to it. Fremantle is a small town that is situated in the south of Swan River. It only takes about half an hour to get here from Perth making it one of the most easily accessible day trip destinations. Fremantle is known for the vintage charm attached to it. Adorned with boutique shops, quirky cafes and fascinating street art, this is an interesting place to explore on foot.

Rottnest Island

The Rottnest Island is just an express ferry away from Fremantle and is usually the next stop after Fremantle. Rottnest Island adds a touch of nature to vintage Fremantle for it is known above all for housing the adorable Quokkas. With a face that actually looks like they are smiling, Quokkas have earned the reputation of being the ‘happiest’ little creatures on earth!

Yanchep National Park

If you want a better dose of the wildlife of Australia try doing a day trip to the Yanchep National Park. Being one of the country’s oldest and most established national parks, here you can find a variety of native species here. Among all the day trips from Perth, this one is perfect for the animal lover. From Koalas to kangaroos to emus and more, you get it all in this park.

New Norcia

New Norcia is actually a monastic town which was set up by the Benedictine Monks and happens to be the only one of its kind in all of Australia. Located some 132 km north of the city, this destination gives visitors a different take on day trips from Perth.

Bunbury and Mandurah

These are 2 very interesting towns not too far from the city of Perth. There is quite a bit to see in the 2 towns but visiting Bunbury and Mandurah is often combined with a trip to Lake Clifton.

Lake Clifton

Lake Clifton is arguably the favorite choice when it comes to day trips. After all it is home to the thrombolites which are microorganisms that also happens to be one of the oldest creatures on earth. If you are keen on sighting some thrombolites take a stroll down the boardwalk across the lake. The many smooth rocks that you would see carpeting the surface of the seabed are actually the creatures!

Perth Hills

Located right behind the city, these hills offer the ideal setting for a quick escape from Perth. Adorned with viewpoints and walking tracks this attraction gives visitors the best dose of nature.

The Beach

A quick trip to a beach on the outskirts of Perth is sometimes the only day trip you need. If you find all else to be too much planning and too much hassle, just pick your favorite beach, grab your swimwear and you are good to go. Cottesloe beach for instance is just a short drive from Perth city and is an ideal pick anytime of the year.
